How Our Mentoring Works

We carefully match mentors with youth based on interests, needs, and personalities. Every mentoring relationship is supported with training, resources, and ongoing guidance.

Training & Preparation

All mentors receive training on working with at-risk youth, trauma-informed approaches, and effective mentoring techniques before beginning relationships.

Basic Requirements

Age:21 years or older
Availability:1-2 hours weekly for at least 1 year
Background check:Clean criminal background (we assist with this)
Training completion:Attend mentor training workshop (provided free)
Communication:Regular check-ins with LOTSI staff

No specific education or professional background required. We value life experience, character, and genuine care for young people above formal qualifications.
